I feel a real affinity for Saint John and New Brunswick. I often convey this connection to place by painting existent architecture. The repeating forms and motifs of the built landscape allow me to explore the fascinating patterns of light, shade, tone, texture, reflection and colour while celebrating our rich architectural heritage.

In 1995, I collaborated with Dr. Gregg Finley to produce “On Earth As It Is In Heaven – Gothic Revival Churches of Victorian New Brunswick”, published by Goose Lane Editions. The book represented over five years of intensive research. The resulting artwork of 65 drawings and 58 paintings toured throughout New Brunswick.

"Perhaps the most satisfying of all the images produced for this project are those paintings which set the churches like tiny jewels into the seasons of the New Brunswick landscape....The weathered wood of the whitewashed church or the obdurate nature of the stone cathedral evoke a sense of the history of the place."

"Lynn Wigginton's works are an unsentimental document of the history of a community."
